Northland Ward Tour/ Angus NZ AGM March 2026

Discover Angus Country in the Winterless North

Why you should secure your place early for the 2026 Angus Northern Ward Tour!

Angus farmers from across New Zealand are invited north in March for an experience that blends farming excellence with unforgettable travel. The 2026 Angus Northern Ward Tour will showcase both established studs and exciting new herds while taking participants through the heart of Te Tai Tokerau Northland, the birthplace of our nation and a region rich in history, beauty, and hospitality.

From Sunday 22 March to Wednesday 25 March 2026, the tour will be a chance to connect with fellow breeders, see how Angus thrive in Northland’s subtropical conditions, see our innovative farming practices and explore one of New Zealand’s most iconic travel destinations.

Chris Biddles, Chair of the Angus Northern Ward Tour, says “This tour is more than farm visits. It’s about meeting the Northland breeders who are embracing the Angus breed, sharing ideas with fellow farmers, and experiencing the history and culture that make this region unique. It will be a trip to remember.”

And there are advantages to confirming to attend early.
Earlybird travel: Air New Zealand currently has fares from Auckland to Kerikeri from just $74, so now is the time to secure your place. Please note that inwards flights after the 1.45pm flight will not get you to the AGM. Return flight will be possible from the 12.45pm flight.

Affordable experience: Participants cover their own airfares plus the tour cost, which we have worked hard to keep under $1,000 per person.

Networking and learning: Meet breeders from across the country, pick up fresh ideas for your herd, and enjoy the camaraderie of the Angus family.

Tour highlights

Stud visits: Walk the paddocks of leading and emerging Angus studs across Northland, with opportunities to see bloodlines, share insights, and discuss breeding strategies.

Bay of Islands magic: Cruise through turquoise waters and scattered islands, a place where Māori voyaging stories and early European settlement meet.

Iconic dining: Enjoy an evening at the legendary Duke of Marlborough Hotel in Russell, New Zealand’s first licensed pub, where generations of adventurers and dignitaries have gathered overlooking the Bay.

Cultural landmarks: Stand at Waitangi, the birthplace of the nation, and learn the stories that shaped Aotearoa.

Natural wonders: Walk beneath the towering canopy of Tāne Mahuta in Waipoua Forest, and stand in awe and a moment of quiet reverence before Tāne Mahuta, New Zealand’s largest kauri known as the Lord of the Forest.

Local flavour: Experience kumara country around Dargaville, taste the richness of Northland’s produce, and enjoy shared meals that celebrate both farming and friendship.

An evening at the Ōmāpere Hotel: Located on the edge of the Hokianga Harbour, this is a memorable spot where warm hospitality meets breathtaking and ever-changing waters of the Hokianga Harbour. Happy to confirm there are no hotel shifts and all 3 nights are at Waitangi in the Copthorne Bay of Islands Resort hotel Book early to secure your seat and take advantage of the best fares.

The 2026 Angus Northern Ward Tour is equal parts professional, cultural, and social – a journey where lifelong memories and connections will be made.
