By now you will be well aware of the AngusNZ breed shift to the use of Helical. Transition work is well underway, with an expected go-live of early August.
The Helical Company is a Kiwi company, developing cutting-edge tools for managing and analyzing genetic and genomic data. For AngusNZ members Helical is providing a new user-friendly interface which allows you to run customised reports and extract personalised herd data, while still being able to load your recording data in similar processes to those you follow using your members area through the Angus website currently. The intuitive system will save breeders significant time in submitting data.
Initial first look sessions were held at the Beef Breeders forum in March and at some ward meetings. Following on from that, all members now have access to the Helical system. The PBB registry team encourage you to login to Helical, take a look around the interface and familiarise yourself with the setup.
For now, the access will only allow you to search your animals and get familiar with the look of the system. Please continue to submit any data through your normal processes e.g via batches in your members area or livestock management system until otherwise advised.
Your access to Helical has been set up, you can access it here – AngusNZ Helical Login > – then follow the steps to create your login.
Video tutorial
This video tutorial will help with your first login to Helical: How to Login to Helical >
Please note the video is being updated, but for now it will specify Simmental as the breed. The login process and animal search is the same.
More information and demonstrations will be provided regularly over the next month.
If ward groups are wanting demonstrations, please get in touch and we are happy to facilitate these. Please let us know if you have any questions or have any issues with your login.
Helical will go live Friday the 1st August. Please login before this and familiarize yourself with the new platform. The last day for submitting data in July will be Friday the 11th. Any data submitted to us after this will not be entered into the database until after the 1st of August.
