The future of any industry lies in the enthusiasm of the next generation – and in the Angus world we aim to start ’em at any age!
From events, education and development through to scholarships and exchange programmes, Angus New Zealand’s ‘Generation Angus’ provides numerous opportunities for young enthusiasts to pursue a future in farming.
Age is no barrier – you’re never too old to get involved!
The annual Cattleman Development weekend, run by Generation Angus with the support of FMG, is open to all future farmers aged 18 and over, and offers cutting edge information on processing, seed stock farming, farm succession and more. Get along! This year’s programme was run in February in the Wairarapa. Stay tuned to this section of the website for details on the 2016 Cattleman weekend, and check out the range of agricultural scholarships and exchanges available.
If you’re a not-so-young farmer with youngsters at foot, think about encouraging them to take up some of the opportunities on offer. Showing cattle can also be a great introduction to livestock farming, and there’s a load of fun to be had.
Generation Angus is passionate about the future of Angus and of the wider beef industry, and aims to develop an innovative and evolving programme of events. Get involved and become a future leader!
