The inaugural PGG Wrightson Livestock National Video Sale exceeded all expectations for Angus breeders.
The Champion bull from Ranui Angus attracted plenty of interest and was finally knocked down to Lindsay Carruthers from Middlemarch for $27,000. The Reserve Champion from Te Mania was the next lot in and bids came thick and fast before a final bid of $35,000 secured the bull on behalf of Mark & Sherrie Stokman (Stokman Angus) and Robin Sekerak & David Fogarty of Kauri Downs Angus.
Congratulations to all vendors and purchasers. The average of $11,880 across the 25 bulls sold was well ahead of previous years and testament to the quality of bulls presented by Tru-Test Bull Unit organised Cedric Lander and property owner David Wright.
The Board of Angus New Zealand can be very satisfied with their decision to move from a live auction to video auction this year. However they know that in 2019 there will need to be more new initiatives to enhance this important event for the Angus breed.
