FMG BEU, Autumn 2012 Open day

The 17 bulls that have made it right through the FMG BEU trial were on show on a beautiful Autumn day at Stewart Morton’s Kayweedin property on Bryces’s Road at Kiwitea, north east of Feilding.

The bulls have enjoyed a good year of growth and should be in good order come the National Angus Sale on the 15th May at Manfeild Stadium in Feilding.

These bulls are tested for everything imaginable during their time on the Unit so are certainly worthy of inspection by both Stud and Commercial farmers who are looking for sound bulls to introduce to their operation. The original group of 35 was brought together in May of last year and they have been weighed and tested on a monthly basis.

70 interested cattlemen came and visited and to make it more interesting and meaningful over the year monetary prizes are given out by FMG for:

(A)   The highest weight for average daily gain (ADG)

1 Motere(Pharazyn) - bull 15463010A64

2 Floridale (Jenkins) – bull 13136010759

Overall FMG BEU winner for 2011/2012

Motere (Pharazyn) - bull 15463010A64

With the strong support that FMG give us with this project we wereable to offer those that travelled a very pleasant buffet lunch with AngusPure before a second look at the bulls and the trip back

We thank sincerely FMG and other sponsors for their continued support of the FMG BEU, it is a concept that has brought our members together in supporting the National sale and given the opportunity to promote the Angus Breed to those who attend these days.

This is the first year that we have run our bulls with Stewart and the Paki-iti team, so I would like to thank Stewart Dennis and Warren for the sterling job they have done for us, it hasn’t been an easy year with all the rain at the time when they should be growing fast but we have managed to get them to where they should be so – a great effort, thank you
